Leading Sustainable Change: Part I
“One key to successful leadership is continuous personal change. Personal change is a reflection of our inner growth and empowerment.” — Robert E. Quinn
If you recognize the value of purposeful technology integration, but have some hesitant teachers, please know that sustainable change begins with you! Become the catalyst for change in your school this year.
Many administrators are incredibly supportive of the digital initiatives happening in their schools, and they encourage their teachers to use technology to increase engagement. However, many admins question where to begin or which applications to use with their staff. This is where we can help! I have a step by step program just for administrators. All you need to do is follow the action items below to establish a vision, influence others, and initiate sustainable change in your building.
August- Utilize a TodaysMeet backchannel at your next school faculty meeting. Visit todaysmeet.com to create your room. Pose questions and see your staff collaborate. TodaysMeet gives everyone the floor and encourages even the quietest teacher to jump in the conversation.
September- First, add the Chrome extension goo.gl URL Shortener to your Chrome browser. (If you don’t use Chrome, download it today!) Then, find an edtech blog on twitter that will inspire others, shorten the URL using the extension, and send it to your faculty to read. Maybe start the next faculty meeting with another TodaysMeet backchannel discussing the blog post. Show your faculty you know how to use Twitter for professional growth. Start with a simple #edtech search. You don’t even have to tweet!
October- Using a collaborative cloud storage, such as Google Drive, share a folder with your faculty by adding their email addresses after clicking share. Add files, docs, etc to this folder to instantly share with your staff. Go paperless at your next faculty meeting!
Stop back by in November for the next installment of action items to become an All-Star Tech Leader and catalyst for change in your school!
